Range Freely

Privacy

Applies to Range Freely: ECG Recorder. Last updated 1 September 2026.

The short version: the app has no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything it records is written to your own device and stays there until you decide to share it.

What the app collects

While you record a session, the app stores on your device: the ECG waveform and beat-to-beat intervals streamed from your chest strap, heart-rate values, any markers or notes you add, and the profile details you enter yourself (such as name, age, weight and maximum heart rate) which are used to calculate your zones. It also stores the identifier of the chest strap you paired with, so it can reconnect to it.

Where it goes

Nowhere, unless you send it. The app does not transmit your recordings anywhere. There is no Range Freely account, no cloud sync, no backup service of ours, and no third-party analytics or advertising SDK in the app. We do not receive your recordings and we cannot see them.

When you export a session — a review PDF or a Kubios CSV — the file is handed to the standard iOS share sheet and goes wherever you send it. At that point it is covered by the privacy policy of whatever service or app you chose, not by this one.

Permissions the app asks for

The app does not request location, contacts or photos access.

Apple Health

This version does not read from or write to Apple Health, and does not ask for Health permission. Health integration is planned for a future release — when it arrives it will be optional, it will ask you for permission explicitly, and this page will be updated before that version ships. Health data is never sent to us either way; HealthKit access, if you grant it, stays between the app and your own device.

Apple Watch

If you use the watch companion, session control and the values shown on your wrist are exchanged directly between your iPhone and your Apple Watch using Apple's own device-to-device connection. That data does not pass through us.

Deleting your data

Deleting a session in the app removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all of its stored sessions and settings along with it. Because we never held a copy, there is nothing for you to ask us to erase — but if you have emailed us files, you can ask us to delete those at any time.

Email you send us

If you write to us for support, we keep your message and anything you attach for as long as it takes to help you and to keep a record of the issue. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace. We don't sell, rent or share it, and we don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be told about a release.

Children

Range Freely apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

App Store data

Downloads and purchases happen on Apple's App Store, under Apple's privacy policy. Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymous statistics about downloads and crashes. We never receive your name or contact details through the App Store.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it in the app's release notes.
